There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and coeternal.

There is One God who is One Eternal Spirit, who created all things and through manifestations, his word and One begotten person has revealed himself for the redemption of mankind.

We have heard the debates about whether God created the universe or was there just a big bang. Whether the universe is eternal or finite. The evidence of science and philosophy leaves one with conclusions based on an objective intelligent assessment or predetermined dismissal of the evidence both scientific and philosophical. This is why we have some who are theist and those who are atheist. The same is true with those who embrace the Oneness view of God or the Trinitarian view. Each conclusion should be arrived at through scriptural evidence, physical evidence, scientific evidence and biblical harmony. This article is an argument for the Oneness view of God based on Biblical evidence, Biblical harmony and God before and after creation.
                            ROOT OF MANIFESTATIONS
This Biblical evidence has its roots in creation and that which follows. I will begin in the Book of Genesis. GENESIS 1:1 In the beginning GOD...
Most professing Christians believe God was, is and will always be eternal God while all else came into a finite existence because the eternal God caused that which was non-eternal to exist. Most Christians who observe the Biblical evidence feel that in eternity God was only God and nothing else, although God possessed the power and knowledge to be all that He is and has become since the beginning of creation or ever will be, unrestricted. Why God created all things that are created is not a mystery as some would suppose.  God gave a particular reason in the Bible why He created..
                               WHY DID GOD CREATE
REVELATION 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy PLEASURE they are and were created. Simply, God created all things for His pleasure. This brings us to God becoming something that He was not. Creator is just one of a long list of things. God became creator as He performed the act of creating. He may have been something before He created but it surely was not Creator although He could have been and did become creator at the council of His own will.
                                  GOD'S FIRST MANIFESTATION
JOHN 1:1 In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God. The term Word is never used in conjunction with eternal but first with creation. With a knowledge that God became what He said he is becomes ever so clear in light of His progressive manifestations. God revealed these manifestations to man in and by His Word. It is evident by scripture that God became the Word in the beginning when He first spoke.

                                       WHAT HIS WORD DID
HEBREWS 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
God did not create another deity or person when he spoke words.  We do not make another person when we speak words either. God's Word was with Him and it was Him when He spoke. It was just a manifestation of himself. He actually became "The Word" when He spoke. This was something He was not before He spoke. When we speak some people recognize us by our voice or words. Science has proven that voice waves are like finger prints. Each persons is unique to themselves. God nor humans are separate from their word. When the Word became flesh it simply meant God chose to speak or communicate Himself to man in a different, essential and perfect way than in times past. In times past, God communicated through the prophets by His Word.

                       HIS WORD COMMUNICATED WITH MAN
HEBREWS 1:1 God, who at SUNDRY times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these LAST days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. This verse becomes clear in light that Jesus, the Son of God is the Word incarnate. The Son of God was made.

                                  HIS WORD BECAME MAN
GALATIANS 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law. Something that is made or begotten is not eternal. When the man Jesus prayed the Lord's Prayer He addressed God in a term, our heavenly Father. Yet the term our Father meant something to Jesus that could not be said of any other man. God was Jesus' paternal father and other men's father by creation or adoption. God became the Father to all humans when he created them yet only Father in a paternal sense when the Son of God came into existence by conception made by a woman. God was not the Father of man before He created man and was not a paternal Father before Jesus the Son was conceived or made. Father in both senses was something God was not before the creation of man or the conception of His Son. God actually became His Word to frame creation but was not that creation outside His Word. At the conception God became what He conceived in Mary's womb," The Word Incarnate via. the Son of God". The conception demanded that God become paternal Father and begotten Son simultaneously. We notice that in the Bible when someone tells their genealogy it portraits the order of existence. Never do we hear the son before the father because it is not God's order and even with humans God set this order after his likeness. This is one reason it is never scripturally correct to say Father God when we pray though it may sound impressive. This is because God was God before He became Father. Therefore the term God our Father is used regularly and exclusively in God's Word. To say Father God simply puts the manifestation before eternal and implies there may be another God. We notice that eternal is not used in conjunction with the term Father or Son.  We do however find the term eternal Spirit and eternal God. We do see the term God the Father but never God the Son because the Son was a union of God and humanity which did not exist prior to the conception but was begotten in time and appeared to men.. Therefore He was called the Son of God, not God the Son. The man Jesus was the Son of One God who pre-existed the Son and biblical speech and evidence portraits this. When we see the scripture declare that God created by Jesus this means by his voice or word, not by the physical manifestation called the Son.
Before anything existed there was God and God is a Spirit.

JOHN 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. God was in Christ Jesus reconciling the world to Himself. If we ever do see God it will certainly be some kind of manifestation.
God in many ways manifested Himself in a physical form. God became a burning bush, a pillar of fire by night, a cloud by day, an angel and even as a man," not begotten of woman", before He prepared Himself a body or an image for the suffering of the cross. Paul spoke in Colossians about the son being the image of God.

                                         BUT ALL ARE GOD
COLOSSIANS 1:15 Who is the IMAGE of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: HEBREWS 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express IMAGE of his person.  After all the prior warnings in the Bible concerning the worship of images we find God making an image of Himself that was ordained and commanded to be  worshipped. Notice, God did not make three images! The Son of God was the only image that God allowed and demanded men and angels to WORSHIP.
                        THE ONLY MANIFESTATION OF GOD
                                 THAT RECEIVED WORSHIP
HEBREWS 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. Jesus the Son of God was the express image of the invisible God, that was full of the Spirit of God, bearing the name of God and worshipped as God according to the command of God.

THAT COULD AND DID DIE WAS THE SON
HEBREWS 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a BODY hast thou prepared me. God was God but He became all these manifestations in His endeavor to communicate, deal with and save mankind. Prior to creation there was no need for God to manifest Himself. Even the Spiritual manifestations that have moved men and mountains were not needed before creation. It is simply the fact that God has become things now manifested that in eternity He was not. This does not mean that God did not possess the power and ability as the eternal to become the things he desired to be at any time.

                                GOD BECAME OUR SALVATION
PSALM 118:14 The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my SALVATION. God has become our salvation, need we say more? God was creator but became our salvation when His blood was offered in atonement. God could have saved us in any manner he wanted at any time but chose Calvary's atonement as the only way to offer eternal life to mankind.

                          GOD WAS ALONE BEFORE CREATION
God even had a progressive set of names and titles by which He revealed Himself to mankind for particular purposes. If creation had not taken place then there would be no one to declare a name or title that God would ascribe to Himself. There would not be anyone to react to or call upon a name or a title of God. The Book of Job said God was alone even while He created.
JOB 9:8 Which ALONE spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. For his pleasure He created and then only was He not alone. This brings us to the unimaginable event of God Himself becoming part of His own physical creation. Prior to the conception God had manifested himself in physical forms but only at the conception did he actually assume the express physical image of himself in human form, that was worthy of his name and commanded to be worshipped.

THE SON OF GOD WAS NOT ETERNAL
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that HOLY THING which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Until that time God had not manifested Himself as a begotten Son. Until then God had many sons but they were after the order of creation. Now God became Father and Son by the paternal act of God conceiving a Son with a virgin woman. GALATIANS 4:4 But when the FULNESS of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law. There is no mention before the conception of a Father/Son paternal relationship of God, except depicting a future occurrence when the fullness of the time would come. Before this event it was only revealed through prophecy in the future when God would assume a human existence when Jesus the Son would be made or begotten in time. The Son came through generation of man and manifestation of God coupled together in one event. Therefore God was not a Father or a Son in eternity past. That is why the Bible never uses the term, eternal Father or eternal Son, which is often declared by many people. God had no need to be a paternal Father or begotten Son in eternity past because there was no sin or mankind to save. Again when the fullness of the time came God became something that He was not prior to conception of the Son of God.

IN THE SPIRIT AND THE PHYSICAL
Now comes an explanation of a mystery. 1 TIMOTHY 3:16 And without controversy GREAT IS THE MYSTERY of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. The mystery is that God being a Spirit could not taste death so assuming a human existence God did the inconceivable. God actually became flesh. Therefore the Spirit of God as the Father could actually inhabit the flesh which was God's manifestation of himself in human form, to reconcile the world by the death, burial and resurrection of His body. The Son did not serve the same purpose as the Father but both were manifestations of one God. One Spiritual and one physical. The burning bush to Moses was not the cloud on the Mount Sinai but it was the same God manifesting Himself for the purpose of His will.  We should not think it strange that the Son Jesus would declare that the Father was greater than Himself. For God to assume a physical manifestation also meant self imposed limitations and weaknesses.  It is not hard to understand that God who is a Spirit cannot die and who possesses all power would manifest Himself in flesh that could and would die for the sins of the world. Therefore when Jesus declares the Father is in Him and He is in the Father there is now no mystery. No need for a separate deity or person here, just One God that has no limitations in circumstance and a will to perform His good pleasure. We notice in JN.1:18 that Jesus declares that no man has seen God the eternal. Yet in JN.14:9 Jesus declares that the manifestation of God called the father could be seen. Now we come to the significance of the Name Jesus.

4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by INHERITANCE obtained a more excellent name than they.
God could have had a name or names for Himself that were not relative to creation. We just do not know this. There is plenty of scriptural evidence however that the name Jesus is the name that scripture exalts above every other name God has given Himself.

                        JESUS IS GOD'S FAMILY NAME
EPHESIANS 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole FAMILY in heaven and earth is named. In the Bible we have evidence that Jesus is the inherited name that He received from His paternal Father. Also it is the family name of God. Isaiah really put it in terms we can understand.

                               THE NAME JESUS IS ASSOCIATED
                              WITH ALL GOD'S MANIFESTATIONS
ISAIAH 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his NAME (JESUS) shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah indicated to us that what ever the Son's name is that it was the name of the mighty God, the everlasting Father and our counsellor(Holy Spirit), the Prince of Peace and yes Wonderful. It seems if God had a name before creation that it would be relative only to Himself but God declared the name Jesus was above even that name(s) if it existed. Even the Name of Jesus is relative and evidence declares even it was a progressive name. God's names as we know them are relative to humans. The name Jesus although above every name that is named, was revealed to man only when the progressive manifestation of God required it and revealed it.. Even unto Abraham, Isaac and Jacob God was known only as Elohim(God), Adonai(Lord) and Elshaddai(Almighty God). When it came time for Moses to deliver Israel out of Egypt, God testified that only then did he reveal to Israel the name of their deliverer, Ehyeh(Eternal One) Exodus 6:3. The Name of Jesus is also a covenant Name offered to all humanity for these last days for our total deliverance. Actually the begotten Son of God was the most important event ever in the history of mankind and God revealed his most high name to attach to him,"JESUS". What love God had for humanity to perform such extraordinary act and give us a name to take away our sin.

WE ARE TO ASSOCIATE OURSELVES WITH
THE NAME OF JESUS IN ALL WE SAY AND DO
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
PSALM 118:14, declares that God has become something He was not before, Our salvation! Logic tells us that something one has become is something they were not before. It therefore begs our reasoning to know that God's revealed name was Jesus when He became our salvation. He only revealed the name of Jesus at the incarnation of Himself in flesh made of woman under the law, something He was not before.
Now we know by assessing Biblical evidence, harmony and logic that God is not three deities( trinity) but one God who has shown Himself progressively from the beginning of creation in a host manifestations both physically and Spiritually. God became creator, covenant maker, master, judge, Holy Spirit and the list goes on of Spiritual manifestations of God. He appeared to men as angels, clouds, men, burning bush and other physical manifestations especially as begotten Son for redemption. There are terms in the Bible that seem to contradict the progressive manifestations of God but a careful analysis gives us understanding.

JOHN 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the FOUNDATION of the world.  As before we mentioned in eternity that God had knowledge of the end from the beginning although it had not come to pass. Of course God loved His Son even before the Son was made. Even Godly parents love their children when they have knowledge they are on the way before they are born. 1 PETER 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the FOUNDATION of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. Yes before the foundation of the world God was not without knowledge and a plan for everything. That did not mean these things actually existed or had been manifested in eternity past. A perfect example of God's knowledge was told to man is in Revelations.

REVELATION 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the FOUNDATION of the world. Any fair minded intellectual knows that the Lamb was slain on Calvary a great time after the foundation of the world. Yet we understand that in the knowledge and will of God the lamb was slain already from the foundation of the world. It also proves God's knowledge concerning names in the book before the people even existed.

ROMANS 4 :17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as THOUGH they were. This is how faith and hope works. So it is not hard to understand if men can by faith call things that are not as though they were, God having all knowledge did it with assurance and foreknowledge. When God made all there is He became many things He was not, but he had prior knowledge of it. God created man in His image, male and female created he them. God did not expect us to perceive an eternal Son because there was no mention of an eternal Father. If there had been we might expect a divine Mother also. Sounds familiar in some circles does it not? Even the the institution that gave us Trinity worships a divine mother.

Yet God related to man his order of expectation. Man plus Woman then a child equals father/mother then son/daughter. The man and the woman were not a father or a mother until there was a child even though the potential was there all the time. God was different in that He became Father in two ways.  First pure creation that formed man and woman by his word. Then conception that demanded a virgin to become the mother that made God a paternal Father of the son called the Word.

                                  A TRINITARIAN ARGUMENT
Now we come to, GENESIS 1:26 And God said, LET US make man in our image. "Let Us" has been a perceived tool of Trinitarians trying to establish a three Deity Godhead. Yet in the Jewish community they have always understood "let us" to mean God and the angels. The creation of man was on the sixth day and all the angels were already made. GENESIS 1:31 AND GOD SAW every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. GENESIS 2:1Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the HOST of them.
It is more in harmony with the Bible for God to involve the angels in His creation of man than to discuss it with two other deities. Angels were already made in the image of God. In Genesis, Abraham saw God and angels on the plain of Mamre and they all appeared as men. Daniel even called the angel Gabriel a man. How strange is the theory that God revealed three separate and distinct deities or persons of His Godhead in Gen.1:26 and never mention his Son's existence or involvement in the affairs of men prior to the conception. How many distinct persons are possible in the perceived Trinitarian's,"Let Us Godhead", two, three or maybe thousands? If God is not numerically One, the possibilities are limitless in future perceived revelation instead God's own declaration that He is One. The scriptures declare there is one God. The scriptures declare that many have entertained angels unawares and thought them to be humans. MARK 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the ANGELS which are in heaven. Therefore angels have appeared as men and men shall be as angels in the resurrection. Trinity does not fit the harmony of the scripture and the evidence that God is One from creation.

1 TIMOTHY 2:5 For there is ONE GOD, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Even in this verse God is One and even puts His manifestation as man in a subordinate role as mediator to that of the manifestation of Father. Would one deity beg the other deities mercy for mankind if they thought and acted in harmonious thought. It is true that when someone prays they need help and to pray to another deity would undeify the one who is the prayer unless that one is an ordained manifestation with limitations.DEUTERONOMY 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God IS ONE LORD: God has always declared Himself as One and to portrait Him as multiple deities forces a disconnect from God's declarations about Himself. JOHN 4:24 GOD IS A SPIRIT: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jesus declared that God is a Spirit. Trinity declares God is three Spirits, co-equal and co-eternal. Three Spirits are not what God was nor yet what He has become. God is a Spirit and remains a Spirit but has manifest Himself as He pleased relative to mankind and all creation. EPHESIANS 4:4 There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; Yes God became one body called the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON of God who always reminded us that GOD IS ONE SPIRIT.

"The man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this,.. will be blessed in what he does." JAMES 1:25
